I nave had my zebra back from the taxidermist for a while and noticed that the mane is not right. In life the mane is like a Mohawk haircut, all the hair aligned and pointing up. Nine some of the mane hair points up and some left, right, forward or backward. Is there a way I can remedy this, at home? Thanks NRA Patron member

Not an easy fix....Zebra and Sable as well as wildebeest and many others are alike ...It was not done right to begin with. The mane ...The skin is very thick under the mane, it needs to be fleshed thin to give free movement of the mane hair roots and good placement. It need to be done wet and while it is being mounted. Now the hair roots have dried in all different directions. It has to be opened up re-soaked , thinned down, re-sewn and carded and watched daily as it dries. Sorry it's not something easy...

You may have to go back to Africa and shoot another Zebra, and send that one to Dennis.

I like that idea. May well do that in 17. I have two zebras, but three would be better. NRA Patron member
