Here are some pictures of my Kodiak Island Brown Bear. I harvested in Kiluda Bay with George Wescott. He squared 9 ft 10" and his skull was 26 15/16. Mount was down by Dennis Purcell of Roberts, MT.

What height of ceiling do you have in that room if you don't mind me asking? I am assuming 14ft or so?

I think the full mount is much more impressive than a rug. Just wonder how much cheaper is the rug?

Twilli, Here's something to consider. Sunlight bleaches and degrades hair. You might want to move that bear away from the window. Mounts are like photos and paintings. They'll fade and get brittle much faster in the sun than in a neutral area of your room. And keep it away from heat sources. They'll last much longer that way.

Good advice, with the drapes open his back will be completely blond in just a few months.

We generally keep the drapes closed , till we get a bigger house that is where he has to go. He's already blonde in the back, but i hear what your saying regarding the bleaching. The ceilings are 16ft if I remember well. I have talked about moving the bear to another corner without a window.

That certainly makes an impression in the room.

Another option, if you want to keep the drapes open, you can buy self tint at Home Depot and apply it yourself. On a square window, it's pretty darn easy. Just get the one with the most UV blocking properties as the UV is what causes the fading.

Nice bear and mount too! Smiler Congrats!

One question regarding sun/UV.

Is it only direct sunlight or also "natural" light coming in that's bleaching.

You see I live in a valley. Half of the year, in winter, we do not have sun at all. Then I normally keep the drapes open to let light in. But there is supposed to be some kind of UV filter in my windows.

But during summer time they're closed. At least the ones that let the sun in Smiler
