I have tried to tan and soften beaver tails and have only been able to make them mildly soft and pliable.I know it is possible to do this as I have seen tails that are very soft and pliable,any advice will be appreciated.

Depending on what tanning you are using,you make them softer by oiling than breaking,oil,brake,the more breaking you do the softer it will get.
