TazflaSelling of African Trophy collection ???????
My best friend & hunting partner just passed away & his brother asked me to find out if there was anyplace that bought trophy collections. He passed on Wed. & his trophies are scheduled to arrive next month, it's sad he did not get to see them up. If anyone knows of anyone I can contact regarding the sale of the trophies please be kind enough to advise me please. Thank you very much

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

When my friend died, his widow sold his trophies to Cabella's. I'm sure Sportsman's Warehouse and BassPro also buy trophies to decorate their new stores.

hikerbumCheck some of the African hunting type magazines. There is a company that buys collections and advertises. i dont remember which magazine or the name of the company, but it is out there.

L. David KeithUnfortunately, retail stores pay pennies on the dollar for mounts. Personally, I would look elsewhere. Add the cost of an Impala: trophy fee, airfare, dip/pack, shipping home, broker fee's and taxidermy. Hard to swallow that expense for "I'll give you $75 for it." Do the math. LDK

HughiamIm terribly sorry for your loss. The second punch is that african trophies bring much less than you paid to get them mounted. You could spend much time and aggravation trying local vendors, Ebay etc, but youll end up exhausted and making very little.
You could go to Taxidermy.net, they have a for sale forum that may work.
As a last resort, there is a place in Missouri called Lolli Bros. that does huge taxidermy auctions 2-3 times a year. They would take the whole collection.
Good luck

Badger MattYou might consider buying one of those mounts yourself, especially if he shot it on a hunt with you. It'll bring back good memories.

Irish PaulIT might make a lot more sense (money wise) to donate them to a museum, and set a large charitable contribution against any Estate taxes that may be due.

WWhunterNot sure about how you feel about it, but I met a guy at an auction that was buying mounts and he told me he was making good money by selling them on ebay. I guess its for all those anti-hunter type that still have a game room.
