Spanish Goat Mount
I shot a Spanish goat awhile back that I'm having shoulder mounted. I've been trying to find some pictures of mounted goats, but I haven't had very much luck. Anyone have some pictures of a Spanish (or any exotic) goat done in a shoulder mount they could post to give me some ideas. I'd appreciate it.

Al, most Taxidermists have several taxidermy supply catalogs. The larger suppliers have sections in their catalogs with color photo's of their line of exotic forms. You will find goats included. This give you an idea of what that form looks like finished. LDK

Thanks shehuntz. Very nice mounts, especially the first one. Mine has the shorter summer coat, but has much taller horns than any of those (they actually sweep out a little bit to the side).

Oh, he's lovely.
Has an ibex look/feel to him.
I would go with a wall pedestal to show off the head gear.
A upright shoulder form altered to an aggressive look.
Much like it appears in the photo, just the chin lowered a bit more.

Please post pictures however its done!

Shehuntz,

I thought he had an ibex look to him when I shot him as well. He's my "poor man's ibex" until I can afford a real one.

I appreciate the suggestion, and I think I know exactly what you mean. I've seen an ibex done in a pose like you described. I'll have to call my taxidermist and talk to him about it. Thanks for the idea.

I agree that the position you suggested would look great with that goat but you may find that, by lowering the nose, the horns are going to go several inches into the wall.

Use the same position but pedestal mount it. Then the wall clearance won't be an issue.

Good luck!

And so if you meet a hunter who has been to Africa, and he tells you what he has seen and done, watch his eyes as he talks. For they will not see you. They will see sunrises and sunsets such as you cannot imagine, and a land and a way of life that is fast vanishing. And always he will will tell you how he plans to go back. (author: David Petzer)

Jds, i was thinking lowering the chin would bring the horns out.
This is another idea, (picture a goat and not an ibex though).
A wall pedestal with habitat. No horn isues either.
The rocks look nice with the mount too.
