Well the good news is my African mounts came yesterday BAD NEWS is the top of the crate they were in was crushed and my Kudu's face was badly damaged. To say I was upset is a severe understatment.

The shipper was FedEx and when they called me to confirm delivery nothing was said about the damage at all so imagine my suprise when the delivery truck shows up and the top of my crate is all smahed in with my Kudu's face sticking out. So the truck driver notifies the damage on his slip tells me to not open the crate until the inspector comes but he didnt show up. So he shows up today because I called FedEx and told them that if he doesnt call me I will hunt his ass down and drag him back to inspect the damage. Then he has the BALLS to tell me instead of sending it back to my taxidermist for repairs I should just find someone who can glue it back needless to say I had to walk away as I almost punched him.

The nose of the mount is ripped in half and broken off and the form is crushed in as you can see that the right side of his face is flat and the skin pulled back and wrinkled up and when pushed it sinks in. The inspector told me they dont deal with sentimental value but with tangible stuff so they need receipts etc. I told him that I have some very tangible receipts that go in to thousands of dollars.

Sorry for the rant guys just had to get it off my chest as im feeling pretty HOMICIDAL right now (is it safe to say that when you have guns gunsmile)

ALOHA!!!

Please get everything in writing. tell them you don't want to talk to them on the phone, only in letters or fax. Get an estimate of the cost to FULLY repair the damage and then file a claim. This is VERY important. You may only have 60-90 days in which to file a formal claim. After that they may have no legal obligation. I had to take UPS to court and they settled in the lobby for what I was asking. Be an asshole, document EVERYTHING take notes during phone calls (don't hit anyone).
IM not so HO
