From what you have explained it seems to me also that the statement [ theft by deception ] most proberbly covers the problem very well, there is no real black or white answer as it is far from the normal train of events that most of us would come up against, but if you have helped some others from being hooked [ excuse the pun ] then you have done the industry a favour albeit at your expence in time money and frustration ..

A lesson is there for all of us to learn from, what more can I say unfortunately

I'm curious. Why would you ship the dead fish half way around the world to have it stuffed then be worrying about the price? Especially as you already have a guy you apparently like.

He didn't ship the fish across the country. He had them done as reproductions which means that the taxidermist takes the measurements of the caught fish, orders the closest sized fiberglass replica, and finishes it out. Almost all salt water fish are done as a reproduction.

JDS is exactly right, not surprising since he was in the trade for a long time. Also damned good at it I might add. I use several different taxidermists at different times. The simple explanation is that each has their own specialty and expertise. I do do waterfowl with one guy big cats with another, plains game another, bears etc and so on and so on.
The real issue here is one of honesty, something obviously lacking in the way these people do buisiness.

JDS, Credit where it is due. I have been impressed with your work that I have seen.

Of course I havent seen your crating and shipping charges Sorry I couldnt resist. I have to make fun of this whole issue somewhat or else I will just get angry. It is way better to laugh at it. At the same time I want to prevent anyone else from being taken in this manner.
