I have some sitting in Africa and thinking about not sending them all back to the states.
What PG backskins are the 'best' and what do you use them for?
Ideas?

My wife likes pillows. Pillows for the chairs, for the couch, for the some kind of furniture I can't even name. She changes pillows several times a year. But, she is not averse to some pillows that have "sporting" themes. We've had "tapestry" bird dog or game animal pillows, and some game hide pillows.

We are meeting with the taxidermist this Friday to discuss mounts from my March Tanzania safari. My wife is going along to discuss pillows.

Her options are Coke's harteest (would make a great big pillow); impala (good pillow); Grant's (good pillow); wildebeest (good big pillow). Kudu make good pillows too, but oryx don't -- the hair is too brittle. Warthogs, goes without saying.

Dian Cooper at Brushcountry Studios in Cypress, Texas is great with pillows. Just so you don't take this all the wrong way, Dian is also an excellent taxidermist in her own right as is her husband Rocky. ,

I've used them for years and will continue to do so. But Pillows!? How many do you need? (Me? one).

I learned my lesson from my buddies. Leave them all there. Just a lot of expense to have tanned and do nothing with them. Good luck in your decision.

Mary did up a wonderful pillow for my couch with a zebra backskin on one side and buttery soft black leather on the other. It really is perfect!

Right now we are working on having our remaining backskins in pillows. We also had the backskins used to inlay the pestal mount (zebra and nyala).

Anyone do Axis Pillows, I have a tanned back skin that I would love someone to help make me a pillow as my Taxidermist does not do this.
Thanks!

PM Mary Hilliard-Krueger. She does a great job.

Bob Wilkins and his wife Dodie at Wildlife Artistry in Cameron, Texas do great pillows and rugs too. Dodie is in charge of the rug and pillow room: http://www.wildlifeartistry-texas.com/Home.html
