What color should the eyes be of a Black Wildebeest? I recently received mine back and the eyes look a little funny. The best picture I have in a magazine they look like dark brown centers with lighter brown around them. Any help? Thanks, Art

Like your reference photo shows, Wildebeest/Gnu eyes have dark slotted pupils and outer ring with a lighter yellow/brown background. Vained or mottled darker lines should also be in the yellow/brown background.

They look anything like this?

Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.

beer Yup the look just like those of yours. They also have the lines described above, they just look real yellow, but I don't remember seeing the eyes when the animal was alive. he was shot from quite a distance. Thanks for your help. Art

This was my second kill in africa.It was a most memorble shot.Funny thing was the skinners and trackers where very excited as you could tell by their tone in their voices.Being full of my self I asked the P.H. if my shot impressed them.He told me that they they where excited buy the fact that they would be eating the stomach and intestines.Years later I read that it was a favorite meal in a book by Bell.

Not wanting to critizise here,but cautiously asking. The pictured wildebeest,to my totally uneducated opinion has some sort of ocular disease. The eyes are too big,looks un-natural

Am I correct?

baboon,

I hate to say this but the eyes do look to big or open to wide. I just looked at their web site, the wildebeest in their gallery has big eyes too!
