drjWhy does Argentina not allow birds to be imported in to the U.S.?
Been going to South America annually since about 2008. Now hooked on pigeons. I would love to bring a couple back to have mounted. I contacted USF&W and they told me that as long as I presented a valid hunting license it would not be a problem. The Argentinian government, however, does not allow the exportation of hunted birds. Does anyone have any idea why?

L. David KeithMost South American countries refuse to allow partnerships with the US Taxidermists and our USF&W requires qualified paperwork to import sport hunted trophies. Evidently, no one in South America cares to follow guidelines and submit proper paperwork. As long as the country your hunting doesn't forbid you to export your birds, review the USF&W guidelines, print the paperwork and fill in all required information. There is a legal way to import if done correctly as long as the exporting country allows it; paperwork is proper; the birds were in season and limits within guidelines. LDK
