L. David KeithWorld Taxidermy Awards
I heard a rumor yesterday that our own Dennis Harris (The Artistry of Wildlife in MI) won one of the major awards with a Lioness fighting a Zebra (lifesize). This morning a friend sent me pics and it is an amazing mount. Stands something like 14 feet tall (they are suspended in air). Whatever Dennis won, congratulations on a remarkable piece of art. I wish I could post the pics but I must get permission first.
Cheers,
David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

It is incredible. Don't know where by buddy got that link, but it's awesome work, along with all the other pieces there.

I'm not a taxidermist, and don't play one on TV, but that "Best in the World" don't really leave a lot of room for improvement...

george roofDennis, that picture with Randall Waits standing in background with that "duh" look is simply priceless. I'll make SURE he sees it. LMAO
You already know how I feel about that mount. The bar will forever be set with Dennis' name on it for "flying animals". If Dennis will post his armature that started this piece, you'll simply not believe any of it. His welder deserved a medal as well.

That was my question as well.

<The Artistry of Wildlife>The Zebra is suspended by one back leg and the lion is suspended by it's tail thru the Zebra's front left knee.
The Lion is removable and the Zebra is removable off the base. three separate pieces to this mount
Base weight 450lbs, Zebra weight 450lbs , Lion weight is 200lbs.
The first picture shows the tail touching the knee, that is the connection point

L. David KeithThought I would update this post with this years entries by Dennis; the Bongo pair and Moose/Wolf. These were entered in the Mixed Mammals category. Dennis has a Facebook page: The Artistry of Wildlife for anyone wanting to see how they put the Moose/Wolf mount together. Amazing work in the field of Taxidermy and Dennis is one of the few I've ever known that will share secrets with others.
