I would like to make my Leopard claw into a pendant, just a simple one, with no embelishment like the one seen in the jewlery ad's. It is very expensive to have it done...Singleton/Moss get's $900.00 for just a silver cap!

Any suggestions on how to do it?

The claw is dried-out, but it still has some of the tissue/skin attached as it came from the hide.

I would like to do it myself, so I would appreciate any instruction you might have.

Thanks!!

There is a fairly new product on the jewelery maker/beaders market called Precious Metal Clay. You can work this clay into any charm, pendant, etc. shape you desire. It then will need to be fired and polished. When completed it is .999 finished Sterling Silver.

If you google Precious Metal Clay, you will see the product I am referring to and much information on the process.

I have been making Southwestern jewelry for many years and am very amazed at the quality of this product. Finished product looks incredible.

You can design and create your own cap pendant for your claw and there are many beading stores that offer tutelage, with this product, and use of their kiln.

Re: dried out tissue on claw: You can gently use a dremel tool or belt sander to remove the dried tissue and hair. Careful not to touch the claw as it may splinter, only work near the bone area and very gently to not even touch the bone, just to remove debris. I don't recommend soaking as it may loosen the sheath from the claw bone.

Good luck
Kindest Regards,
Mary
