Can only speak personally from seeing their work at numerous shows and displays. Have friends below Houston who have used both.

Conroe Taxidermy (Mike Simpson) - World-class, but expensive. Very nice.

Brush Country Studios (Rocky Cooper) - Also fabulous work, but slightly more reasonable prices, and I believe a little quicker.

Sorry, haven't had a buff done, but I have used both Conroe Taxidermy and B&B (Mike Baird) on Jones Rd and both shops turn out excellent work. I am sure you would be pleased using either one.

MJines, I would recommend Tommie Feuge in mongomery. He does great work and he used to work for conroe taxi. PH is 936-447-4868

I would NEVER use B&B Taxidermy again.

PM for details, but the world is full of decent taxidermists, I don't reward incompetence.

Brush Country Studios (Rocky Cooper) without a doubt. A little pricey sometimes but you will see why when you get it back. I have seen some less than desireable mounts come back from Conroe before.

I have known about Brush Country Studios for a long time when they were on Gessner in a little shopping center in a rough part of town.

They do outstanding work, my father is out on medical leave having surgery and went by on Friday to check out the shop and work. Rocky took him around for over an hour showing him the shop, the different staging and finishing rooms, the various mounts, et cetera. He wasn't buying anything, just wanting to kill some time - Dad was blown away by the 18' croc and huge lions he had in his shop.

He made the comment, nothing that he saw would he be embarrassed to put in his home. It was all awesome work. Dad also said, the shop was so clean you could eat of the floor in the show room. If we are lucky to get some big canadian whitetails this fall - we'll be taking them to Rocky for sure. My long time taxidermist has gotten too big and the quality has suffered (not the detail he once provided.)

Biela's Taxidermy just south of San Antonio in Floresville does wonderful work. It not really that far from Houston to get a great taxidermy job done.

Another vote for Brush Country. I have 4 heads done by them and all done well. Mine are NA game but I understand they have become specialists in African game.
