Giraffe tanning
I have left a giraffe hide with a Western Canadian tannery for almost a year and they have not bothered to get to it. Patience is thin, now I am looking for an alternative. Any good, quick tanners in North West?
Elsewhere in Canada? With experience with giraffe?

It's a long shot but there is a fellow in the Airdrie area, I don't know his name or contacts but I talked to him a few years back. He should be more experienced now and at the time he "talked a good talk" regarding tanning. I found his name by googling tanning in Alberta and found him like that.

good luck

DAL, there are some excellent tanneries in the US. Try Yost in Wisconsin. They have been in biz a long time and have a good reputation. Hopefully your skin isn't salt "burned."
Good luck, David

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Glen did he give you a price on your hide? I'd be interested to know what it would cost in Alberta to get something like that done. I'm assuming it's western fur tanneries you're talking about?

In the Airdrie area, AntlerHill did a bad job on a zebra hide, so I won't go there again. The tannery in Vernon has a great reputation, but I have lost patience....
Same with the local taxidermy "heroes". I will no longer tolerate their 3-5 year+ wait times. I take my work where the quality is good and the turnaround times are sane.
I will call Yost and see. Shipping will be a factor...it weighs 50Kg as a recall.

It cost $1000 for the cape. They don't do to many giraffes. They did a really nice job on the cape itself. And the place is Edmonton Fur Tanneries

Check out/with www.moytown.com
Moyle Mink, in Idaho.
Whether they'd do a hide that size or not you'd have to contact them. They're a long time outfit and great rep.
