I have some tanned elephant hide I'd like to have some things made from. Perhaps a purse for my wife and a carry on bag. Any recommendations for a maker? Walden Borke are way too expensive.

i found a local guy who specializes in custom made footwear but can make most anything in the way of accessory items(wallets, belts, etc.) don't know about luggage but for sure his work is superlative for shoes. he is Hispanic and learned the trade from his father, who is/was a real old world craftsman. he is making me a pair of boating/deck shoes from the croc hide i collected in Moz 2 years ago. his work on display in his little shop was great. if the shoes turn out as i expect they will, i am going to have him make me a short hunting boot( similar to a Courtney) with a matching belt and wallet. the custom deck shoe is $400, which is a helluva lot cheaper than Russell, Walden Bork, etc. and it is truly custom. wallets and belts are $100. he took multiple initial measurements and i have to go back a couple more times for fittings. several years ago, he made a pair of custom cowboy boots for the President of Mexico who was coming to visit Fresno. got a big write-up in the local paper and the pictures in his shop showed a work of art.

Thanks Ann, I was hoping Mary would chime in if she could do that.
