swwildlifeClean or dirty Buffalos, what is your preference?
I was wondering what you like more. a clean neat finished Buffalo or a dirty, muddy Buffalo. If the dirty one, how much dirt?

MolepololeI love them both, and would like to have a mount of each style some day! Some of the "dirty" mounts I've seen don't look so great, but yours looks fantastic! Of the "dirty" mounts I've seen and handled, some seem to just have the dirt sprinkled on, and it crumbles off easily, which I don't like. But I do like dirty mounts, and if the dirt can stay on, I would prefer quite a lot of dirt on the horns. The curl on that first buff is amazing. I really love both the oxpecker and warthog skull on the first mount. I also love the oxpecker and grass in the mouth of the second mount - fantastic!

L. David KeithYou'd be surprised how many clients of mine told me their wife wouldn't like or allow a "dirty" buff in their home. Personally, I like the dirty look that Grafton and Jerry H., have done for their clients. I think they hit the nail on the head as it gives a more realistic look to the Buffalo. However, reality isn't always a good thing when it comes to replicating authenticity of the Cape Buffalo. If mud is falling off the mount, that's never a good thing so there can be too much authenticity. Clean buffalo can look great too, i.e., the one Dennis Harris (Artistry of Wildlife) just posted. It's all a matter of personal taste and getting two hunters to agree on that...well, just sayin'
PS: the Oxpecker is a great touch, I like it.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
