Well, I went on a chartered fishing trip for 3 days and 2 nights. I got extremely lucky and bagged this great wahoo. I caught him on a 30 lb test monofilament flat line. That is right, no steel leader!!! Probably about a 1 in 500 chance of landing him without the steel leader. He did manage to burn up the real, the drag was toast after I got him to the boat. You can see the circle hook still in it's mouth. Just to think we spent about $100 on trolling lures and I catch this guy on a $0.10 circle hook and a $0.10 sardine. Who would have thunk it!

I didn't even think about taking measurements to have a replica made; however, my finace suggested I get one done for the office.

So does anyone have a reference on a saltwater replica business? The fish was estimated at 60-70 lbs and I extrapolated the size of the fish by taking the length of my glasses and then determined the approximate size of the fish. Length was about 53" and a tad over 8" from belly to dorsal fin (not counting the curve of the fish of course).

Thanks,

Graybird

AVOID GRAYS TAXIDERMY!!!!!!

but i haven't heard anything bad about king sailfish mounts. and there was another company that i looked at that had good feedback. try a search for replica fish or taxidermy fish.

after a year and several calls, letters and getting the attorney General involved, i finally got my striped marlin. it's a great mount, but Grays is as crooked as, well, something really crooked!

Another No Grays vote from me as well. Nothing but grief for my dealing with them.
