yup you should see a lot of bears. I go by Roy's place everyday on my way too work. Hopefully May 18 you will be able to get around a little. Roy's area is pretty high up and there is a shitload of snow again this year, even more than last year. Last year it was around the middle of May before you could get down any of the logging roads with a truck or a bike, because of the huge snowfall.

You are right about the snow. The good thing is the boars come out first

These are a few of the bears I've killed hunting with Roy Pattison. All were over 7 feet.

The first three photos are the last bear, killed in 2003. There were three other hunters from AZ who went with me, and they all killed a bear.

The 2nd two photos are ones from an eariler hunt that RM077 was also on. The green hide of the biggest in the photo with me measured just over 8 feet from nose to tail. In fact, I have a photo somewhere of Roy and RM007 actually measuring it with a steel tape. -TONY

RM007, I may go on this hunt with you per our discussions.

My partner will indeed still be taking classes at that time, it's just a matter of me finding someone else to cover.

Right now I'm about 75% sure I'll go. But I'll keep you posted.

There should be opportunities on colored bears. I see them every year around the same areas, I just find that the colored bears are usually younger.

Yes. As I mentioned above, he will be in class during that time frame. I've contacted a couple of individuals to see if they can cover. No word yet.

Is someone else already available to commit to the trip?

Todd, as I know it, Roy Pattison, the outfitter, is a taxidermist and will flesh/salt the hide, ready for us to take them back.

If you can come, please do. I'm going with a friend of mine that week.

Bring an extra duffle bag and bring your hids and head home with you. Or, you can have Roy do the taxidermy work and ship to you.
