I leave Thursday for my Hunt on the Montana Plains. My first trip out West. Mule Deer and Antelope combo.

I will be taking my 338 Hawk with me.
Have been practicing from the prone position off the Bi-pod. "a lot different than off a bench" I'm sure I can make a 200 yd shot, Don't have access to a longer range.

I have two good loads - both shoot to the same POI at 100 Yds. I feel confident with either.

They are
200 Nosler BT at 2865 FPS
210 Nosler Partition at 2850 FPS.

Which one do I use?

Trigger, you could almost flip a coin. I suppose, everything else being virtually equal, go with the Partition on game. With either of those as choices I'd give it no more than one minute of concern, then concentrate on something that is more important: shot placement.

I agree with Matt Norman. For antelope and mule deer either will work fine. The partition bullet will keep Murphy at bay. MM

Take your pick! If your concerned about meat loss, use the Partition, but either bullet will do the job at the ranges you are talking about. The Balistic Tips in .338 are much sturdier than the lower calibers. On mule deer and antelope either one will be devestating at any angle. Put the bullet where it belongs, and have a great hunt. I just got back from shooting a good 3x4 in the Nevada high country (at 9000 feet). Best of luck!

What do you think you might do if presented with a 300 or 350 yard shot? If you think it might be likely and you might take it then I would go with the 200 grainers as they will be a little flatter and less of an unknown factor. Otherwise shoot the box that you have the most of!
