Interesting....I thought bears that size were the norm in that area given what it costs to hunt them.

That is a lot of black bear.

Looks like live weight not field dressed weight.

They trapped and euthanized a bear in my neighborhood that weighed 740. The largest bear on record in this state . We saw him a few times . It was amazing .

What do you do with a bear that big besides render out the oil? Would it be fit for the table that large -- and old, obviously?

They should name that bear Fat Albert.

An elk guide I used in Wyoming owns a convenience store. He has the different stockers bring him all the expired pastries for their entire route. He makes some fat bears.

I eaten a couple of 500lb plus bears tasted just fine.

Heavy does not mean old. Just like some humans some bears get fat fast my 510lb bear aged at only 6 years old.
