Ron Whitt at the Whitt Ranch near Mertzon, Tx. He and his wife are great people and he has a nice ranch with good quality blackbuck, axis and other exotics at better than fair prices. Ron lets you have the run of the place and treats you like family. It is the place I took my daughters for their first hunts with a rifle. They were 10 and 8 at the time and both killed very nice bucks. Take a 22 for the kid(s)to shoot a few of the thousands of jack rabbits you will see.

A Texas Blackbuck hunt looks like a great start for your Granddaughter. I wish her the best of luck.

A couple of my friends and I are also interested in a Blackbuck hunt next winter. I've always wanted one of those little antelope.

Tommy Ryno hands down a real gentlman, and very patient with kids. Very honest and has more ranches to hunt on than you can shake a stick at.

BC,

I do guide one of the few low-fence blackbuck hunts in Texas, but I can only do 2-3 per year. My hunts are 40%-50% less than the high-fence hunts, but the animals are also 17"-21" as a rule. Being free-range, we don't see the 23" animals you get behind high fences. For what you are wanting, I would go with one of the recommendations listed above. There is not a bad one in the bunch.

Blackbuck are fun to hunt. They are very wary and don't stand still for long. Have your son/daughter practice shots out to 200 yards. My clients shots average around 150 yards. Behind high fence you will probably be able to get much closer shots and may even hunt out of a blind over a feeder.

Bob

Here are a few shots from my hunts.
