Lake Chelan is not a popular elk area, most of the hunting for the east slopes of the cascades is done much further south (Ellensburg/CleElum or towards Yakima)I have hunted outside of Yakima for 25 years now. Its mostly a spike only with branched bulls by permit only.

Chelan is excellent mule deer area though.....

Unfortunately no. I am more of white-tail hunter. NE WA mostly and N.Central ID.

An old friend does the early muley "high country" hunt on horseback near Chelan but it has really slowed alot in the last 10-20 years according to him. For awhile that was a 3 point min. are and then it changed to 2 point min. I don't know what it is now. I think it was a mistake to make it an antler pt. restriction area in the first place.

Do you hunt that area? I have heard that further south towards Entiat has started to recover in numbers real well. Wonder how the fire season is going to be this year though......

I gave up on HUNTING in most of Washington state because of the total idiots that seem to predominate much of the regular seasons. Switched to Idaho. Lot more rugged country, lot fewer idiots. That seems to be changing also. Maybe I am trying to recature something that no longer exists?

idaho and 8mm , Istarted hunting idaho every year as well got into white tail hunting and i'm addicted, my dad keeps wanting to find a whitetail hunt in wash. but, i feel like it'll be just like all the other hunting in this misserable state, all private land and ten million people on the postage stamp size public ground, i did however buy a wash, lisc. to put in for special permits if i don,t draw i probably will not hunt here.
