with a name like that, you do run the risk, but the good news is that it won't last for long!

(that was a joke, i hope you know!)

tasunkawitko,

I am not sure what is more "unnerving" the pictures of the game animals, or the fact I have a "fan club"!

tasunkawitko,

Well I don't have any pictures handy, but there are some real interesting pictures posted down on the "Big Bore" forum.

Here they are:

Recovered 0.585" diameter, 750gr Woodleigh #1

Recovered 0.585" diameter, 750gr Woodleigh #2

Results on deer (yes the deer exploded):

Commentary from the hunter himself (Robgunbuilder):

Quote:

One I learned was to shoot DEER sized animals in the MIDDLE of the body so as to save the meat. In truth I just wanted to see what would happen! I was impressed so was everyone else! The deer in the photos was killed and blown open with one shot from the NYATI . I call it a HYDRAULIC SHOT.

I BOLD FACED the sentence of import with regard to the deer exploding! The Nyati is a 0.585" bore rifle for those that are not familiar with it.

Some more comments from the hunter with regard to the weight retention of the recovered 0.585", 750gr Woodleighs:

Quote:

The Woodleigh bullet recovered from the off shoulder of the Eland Bull weighed 739.2 grs. It only lost ca 11 grs going through and smashing one shoulder, the brisket and the off shoulder bones. Eland are tough critters!

It is important to note that the RECOVERED bullet was from the eland NOT THE DEER.

That is some REAL IMPRESSIVE terminal ballisitics. That deer is torn open stem to stern!!! WOW!!!

The above pics of the deer are the exact types of wounds I have had occur when shooting smaller thin skinned game with my .585 Nyati loaded with woodleigh 650 gr bullets at 2500 fps. It is dramatic to say the least.
