Wyoming and South Dakota both require a land owner to have at least 160 connected acres to be able to hunt it without applying in the regular season. Does anyone know anything about New Mexico land owner minimums? And is oryx something you can have a land owner tag for? Actually any information you have on any Western land owner tags would be good. Still have about 2 years before we move to the USA for good.

In Wyoming on that 160 acres, the species you desire a tag for must use or live on it,or use it x amount of days per year. Such as, if it is antelope, you have to actually have antelope living on or using the property so many days per year.

No such thing as landowner tags in AZ. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

New Mexico allocate a specific number of elk and antelope tags to landowners based on established criteria. You can learn a little about it by reading the Big Game Regulations. I believe there are also landowner tags for oryx. According to page 51 of the regs, those are unlimited. I suspect they're at the discretion of the landowner. In NM you still have to pay the state the license fee in addition to whatever the landowner charges for the "authorization" to buy the license from the state. If the regulations don't provide enough information, you'd be well served by calling the NMDGF. The folks in the office in Las Cruces have always been very helpful. _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend.

I emailed them with specific questions and got the "big game regulations" answer. I guess I will have to call.

In NM smaller ranches get combined into 1 bigger pot from which a number of landowner tags can be issued, but not necessarily in the same ratio as on larger ranches. Of course, the landowner has complete control over whether he puts his smaller ranch into the draw.

I talked to someone at the G and F in Las Cruces. Deer and Oryx land owner tags are unlimited, and if you have the animal on your place you can ask for tags. Antelope tags require 2000 plus acres.
