I was looking forward to filling my $500+ WY "Special" antelope tag in a few weeks. "Was looking" (note use of the word "was") is the problem. It doesn't look like that's going to happen now. My kidneys have failed and I start dialysis this weekend. Also, I developed an infection that will require 4 weeks of I.V. antibiotic therapy. Maybe in the future I'll be able to work out some sort of plan that will facilitate the 4 hour dialysis treatments in WY, but that's not happening this year. My question is about the license. Does WY offer any sort of refund in the case of a medical emergency? (This can't be the first time the issue has come up...) If there are no refunds available is there some sort way I can donate the tag, possibly to a youth "last wish" or wounded warrior program? I can't find this information on WY's site so I thought I'd ask here. If you are ever in doubt about taking that trip, DO IT WHILE YOU CAN! Life can take a bad turn in a heartbeat. I would call fish and game in Cheyenne. I have a friend that had a high dollar tag and due to medical reason could not complete the hunt. Not only did he get a refund they restored his points as well. It's worth a try. Good luck! NRA Life Memebr

Go to this LINK and search for the word "refund". You may be able to get a refund. Looks like it will be easiest to call them directly. Good luck. . "Listen more than you speak, and you will hear more stupid things than you say."

Yes they do offer refunds for medical conditions and or emergencies. You will probably have to provide some form of documentation as to such. There is also a time frame in which to get your refund. My neighbor had a medical condition and had his elk tag refunded before the season began.

Damn, that's hard luck. There are dialysis facilities in Wyoming, you just need to find one close to your hunt area next year. TomP Our country, right or wrong. When right, to be kept right, when wrong to be put right. Carl Schurz (1829 - 1906)

If you can't get a refund they do offer you the option of donating the tag to a wounded veteran or disabled hunter at your preference.

Life sure does have its twists, turns and speed bumps. A few weeks ago I was in a hospital bed hooked up to machines when one of those reality shows about Wyoming game wardens came on. Convinced that I would not be seeing that beautiful state with my own eyes this year (or maybe never again) I broke down and cried. Upon release from the hospital I wrote the original post. Doing a little research, I found out that WY does indeed offer refunds for medical conditions. But I won't need to. It's taken (almost) the logistics of setting up an African safari but I will be meeting up with Tom at Hiland Outfitter on Friday the 26th, as planned so many months ago. If I'm successful, the antelope will be one of the most significant animals I've ever taken. No longer Bigasanelk

Good to hear that it's working out for you, Bill. I was just thinking of you today as I prepare for my Wyoming trip, after we discussed our respective upcoming hunts a couple of months back. Quite a shock to find this thread. Best of luck up there! We'll compare notes later! John

I just returned from a successful Wyoming hunt. The trip included taking dialysis treatments on a South Dakota Indian reservation but I was able to put it all together and bag the biggest antelope I ever got with one 300 yard shot. The shot had to be taken left handed (I am right handed) on account of a temporary catheter near my right shoulder. Kudos to Tom and Terri at Hiland Outfitting for their help and hospitality! Never give up hope! No longer Bigasanelk
