Just got an e mail from a friend who just got back from Jordan and he said that two hard winters and blue tongue have mostly wiped out the antelope .. A friend is due to leave for there tomorrow but is it worth it ?? Plus with deer hunting open I reckon that hotel rooms must surely be booked ??? (He couldn't get away earlier ) Thanks for any advice ..

There is plenty Antelope. You will not see them unless you get away from main roads and do some walking.Rooms will be hard to come by opening week of Deer ,but after that he should find some.Good luck OB

The area around Jordan, Lewistown, Winnett, and Roundup has had some major drops in Antelope populations. Right now Region 7 still holds decent numbers. Harvest numbers have been pretty low. The antelope are very spooky so he should be prepared to do some hiking. You will find a very large number of hunters for the next couple weeks. I live in Lewistown and have seen a very steady stream of hunters for the last few days. I would bet your friend could have troubles finding a hotel. The weather is supposed to dip down with potential snow this week so he should bring a warm sleeping bag. "We are what we repeatedly do. I should add that I traveled Highway 212 earlier this month and there were quite a few antelope running around between Broadus and Alzada...that said a lot of the private land is leased by a couple outfitters down there. Overall antelope numbers are down, and I think FWP cut back on both the either sex tags and the doe/fawn tags. Four of us hunted Block Management and public land on opening weekend, and three of us shot bucks. The fourth guy did a lot of walking, but I don't think he had his heart into shooting one. Additional doe tags for area 700 were cut from 10,000 to 2,000.There isn't PLENTY of antelope in the Western side of 700 according to local wildlife personel. Try around Circle, MT. Good luck
