BOZEMAN — Wildlife officials are investigating whether wolves have established a pack in the Bridger Mountains just north of Bozeman after one of the animals was found dead in the Brackett Creek area over the weekend. Carolyn Sime, the wolf program coordinator for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, said, “One dead wolf does not necessarily a pack make.” She said lone wolves can travel hundreds of miles to establish new territory, and the animals have been known to pass through the Bridgers. FWP staff will interview landowners to see if they can determine a pattern in wolf sightings in the area. Sime said the agency is still trying to determine what killed the wolf. | ||
