I thought it would be too heavy and lance straight through. In fact in the limited use (10-15 animals) it has had (because I have to do everything I humanly can to reduce over penetration) it just knocks Roe over where they stand and yet leaves no damage to speak of. I wouldn't hesitate to use it much more if I could. Lighter might be better if your shot wanders too far back. I use mild loads (2,900fps) with 100gr ballistic tips and allthough I have no experience of the Hornadies in 6.5x55 I'm sure any 6.5 bullet would do well on Roe from a 6.5x55, they generaly don't take a lot of killing.

ABC, I have shot quite a few Roe with the 100 gr ballistic tip in my 6.5x55. At around 2950 fps it was a good killing load and very accurate in my rifle. I have moved away from the the 100 Ballistic Tip in an effort to reduce meat bruising. I have had excellent results with the 120 grain speer on both roe and fallow, but my preferred bullet of the moment is the 125 Nosler Partition. The reason for using a premium bullet is that I go out stalking and do not know if I am going to shoot a muntjac of a red hind (10 kg or 75kg). The 125 Nosler will kill both. I would like to try the 100 gr Hornady. I think it would make a fine roe/ muntjac bullet if pushed at modest velocities 2800-3000 fps. ------------------ Richard

Thanks for your reply. Until now i have take only one roe-deer and 10-15 animals, in my opinion, is a lot of experience with a bullet.
