I have a cancelation on two Brown Bear hunts for May 10-19 of this year. As far as the dates go, this is the pick of the litter! These dates are the best in this area. Unfortunately, two clients had to cancel their hunt. At such a late date, we have discounted this drastically to get it filled. On this Brown Bear hunt, he allows his hunters to also take a Black Bear at no extra charge. Past Brown Bear hunts with this outfitter have produced some very nice bears, and this time frame offers a very good chance at success. The Black Bears in this area are also large with many squaring well over 7'. The hunt takes place on the coast of Southeast Alaska. Hunters would fly into Wrangell AK. The guide will pick you up at the airport. You will spend one night in a hotel here in Wrangell, and start the hunt the next day. This outfitter runs his hunts from a 53' cabin cruiser. The boat also serves as base camp for the hunters as well. He will take a maximum of two hunters at a time on his Brown Bear hunts. The outfitter and his guide are very professional and knowledgeable about the area and the bears. The food on this hunt is outstanding. Both the outfitter and guide are very competent cooks. Occasionally there will be a trained chef who accompanies the hunters on this hunt. Since you are on the ocean, fresh seafood is always available. It is customary to set "crab pots" and have fresh crab for dinner at least once during the hunt. In the Springtime, hunting is done by glassing the shoreline and tidal flats for Bear. The hunters use smaller boats or tenders, to cruise the shoreline looking for Bear. This is a hunt that can be done by someone who is limited physically. The only requirement is that they need to be able to walk short distances on the shoreline to stalk the bear. Once a suitable bear is located, the hunters will beach the boat and proceed by land to stalk the bear. After the bear hunting is done, the outfitter will move the boat to prime fishing grounds. You can fish for Halibut and Salmon or go inshore for trout fishing. This outfitter runs fishing charters in the summertime, so he has all the gear and knowledge of the area and the fish. Brown Bear/Black Bear Combo Hunt Cost 1x1 - $5,750 for a 10 day hunt. Hunting & Fishing License - $135 Brown Bear Tag - $500 Black Bear Tag - - $225 [ 04-10-2003, 21:06: Message edited by: Buffalobwana ]

Please, please, please post the details of the hunts after they're done. They're not too far off and this will be interesting to see how they turned out. Thanks.

Ok, will do. The top picture is my client in 2000. That Brown Bear was 9' 4" and was enormous. The guy in the picture is (obviously) posed a little far back, but he is big guy as well. It is a good picture, but a darn good Brown Bear. The other guy is a Brown Bear and Black Bear hunter from 2001, this is not a very good picture, but his Black Bear was 7'3" (I think. It was a darn good Bear. I wish I had my three Black Bears from Last year on my computer, I would post them. They were huge! One was 7' and the 2 others were 7'4". Big Bears.
