For the best energy trasmission and meat damage, is better use a hollow point bullet, soft point bullet or any other???

The answer to your question is-

It Depends.

On many variables, including velocity, bullet shape, what the bullet is being used on, etc.

I think if you posted it a little more specifically, like "I'm getting too much bloodshot meat when I body shoot squirrels with my 17 Rem, what can I do?" or something along those lines.

You might be able to get away with saying that hollow points often transfer energy more rapidly and give more meat damage, but that is not always the case especially at lower velocities like out of handguns for instance, or long ranges. Or with a poorly made bullet.

Sorry to be so wishy washy with your question, but if it were simple we wouldn't have a zillion different bullets out there.

Col,
I am assuming you are talking about big game. If you are, then you are right to a point. I guess it depends on the game you are hunting. It is not the meat that you want to damage. If you want to kill game, you want to damage the vitals(heart, lungs, spine, brain etc.) A bullet that reaches those vitals and transmits that energy there is best. That is why we use soft point bullets on non dangerous game. What is "best" is using a bullet that is designed to deliver sufficent energy and tishue damage to kill quickly.
A hollow point bullet out of, say.. a 300 Win. Mag would be deadly on deer but would not be a good choice for larger animals like moose or bison.

For energy transfer and tissue damage an expanding bullet will do more than a solid in the same caliber. But will only be useful for thin skinned game. Barnes x and failsafe bullets make generalizing hollow points impossible. If the animal is large enough a solid bullet will have done more damage before it is done.
