My dad and I are trying to book a hunt. We prefer elk, but my time off is limited to the first week of October each year. This is one of the few places I've seen who actually offer hunts during that time. I can't find rifle elk hunts open in October when I can be there (1st week).

We have never been on a guided hunt and we are honestly terrified of spending all that money and afraid we will be disappointed. So, any help is appreciated. I have emailed the operator of this outfit several times and the communication has been good so far.

If you want to hunt the first week of Oct for Elk and want to hunt with rifle, You may also want to check into some of the outfits that are in the "Ranching for Wildlife" program in CO. The program allows any weapon starting as early as some time in Sept.

Located in Utah, you would be able to hunt in late Sept-Late Oct. They have some really good properties. Ask them if they have any General Season ranches availible.. as these could be cheaper and still provide the opportunity to shoot good bulls. You may even be able to draw a permit which would allow you to shoot a mule deer buck and a bull elk on the same hunt. Anyway, Jed can put you on the right track and their track record is outstanding.
