I am currently using a service to apply for tags for me. I think I can do this myself and enjoy it, cheaper, etc. Can one of you guide me to website or a forum that lists the dates, costs, etc for applying for sheep tags and pref points? I know that I can check each state's website, but I am betting that someone out there has already built a website or a list or something that shows the way on this. Thanks!

For about $40 a year you can subscribe to Eastman's Hunting & Bowhunting journals. They have a list of state submission deadlines and they do a rundown of the hunting for each Western state throughout the year. The Hunting Fool is has similar information. Their subscription is more expensive but is said to be more complete. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

I use Eastmans personally...obviously the Huntin Fool works too. I've been very pleased with the Eastman MRS Research section over the years.

It's all personal preference. I used to subscribe to huntin fool. They ended up selling out to new owners. The former owners now have started "Epic Outdoors". This is the service I subscribe to. They list all the necessary dates. I do not have them apply for me. Since they list all the dates/deadlines, as well as application instructions, it's easy to do yourself.

I use hunting fool, I buy points (because I am stupid) in Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. I didn't have the money to keep up applications when I was young and Wyoming went to $100 per year for sheep. I have about 8 points in Wyoming I think. As an adult, the math is against me. But like moths to a flame, I keep spending about $1000 per year to not hunt in those states I mentioned. I'd apply, but I am overseas and logistically I can't manage it with work. I applied in 2014-2016 in those states, and I will apply again when I get back. Montana and Colorado are states I wish I would have applied in when I was younger, but I can't really manage drawing a tag right now until I get my back fixed. Neither one lets you opt out of the draw and buy points.

I use the Point Hunter app. It tracks all my points and will send reminders via text message to remind you to put in for hunts. Not all states are tracked via the app but all the states that I have point for are listed.

The PointHunter app does this for free. It also will tell you if you drew. It will remind you to apply in a text or in app message or via email. all your choice. Here is a link to get the app. https://www.gotmytag.com/download/TexasHuntingForum
