Hello Russ, The Dillon Precision description of the "Snake Oil" that they sell says it contains no evaporates, so I would think it would not have a scent. http://dillonprecision.com/template/p.cfm?maj=60&min=1&dyn=1& Regards, Bill

Having a better than average sense of smell I would say graphite and pure silicone oil would be scent free. However skibum has a point. There is your smell, smell of soap, and shampoo (even scent free types),smell from clothing ( they use many chemicals in manufacture ,fabric and coatings) smells from camp(cigaret food etc ) and others. Deer can smell much better than any of us people.

My wife can't smell Break Free CLP. That means I get to clean my guns indoors. What about using a vegetable or animal based oil? If you used some of last year's deer tallow, the worst you'd smell like is a dead deer, and I doubt that is very threatening. If deer fat is too hard for use in cold weather, how about acorn oil? Whatever they do to press oil out of walnuts (another possibility, and available in gourmet shops), you could probably improvise something using a bench vise and get enough to do your bow. Being a vegetable oil, it will stay liquid at lower temperatures, and whatever the deer can smell might do you some good. Good luck, and if you come up with something good, please post. I never thought much about this before. H. C.
