Veteran Wildlife and Fisheries Agent found shot to death David Blake Reporting A major multi-agency investigation continues today following the apparent murder of 47 year old Paul Stuckey, a veteran agent with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Calling it a tragic loss, DWF Secretary Bob Barham said Stuckey received a call of night hunting sometime after midnight near St. Francisville. ''He sent a text to his supervisor to let him know that he was going on the call and that was the last communication until he was found early this morning," Barham said. Barham said Stuckey was found by a fisherman, shot to death by the banks of the Mississippi River in East Feliciana Parish next to an old ferry landing. "We are just sick at heart at the department, all of us are shocked and saddened this morning,'' said Barham. Stuckey was an 18-year veteran of Wildlife and Fisheries and leaves behind a wife and three children. Louisiana State Police and West Feliciania Parish Sheriff's deputies are joining the investigation. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Sad deal, GW's really do take their lives into their hands everytime they go out on a call. Even the rocks don't last forever.

"He was next to his patrol vehicle. The cause of death is still under investigation. Investigators believe that no others were involved and are looking into the possibility that he accidentally shot himself." - one source stated that it looked like he was retrieving his shotgun from the rear seat of his patrol vehicle when this occured. If so, a sad reminder that the four basic rules of firearm safety can be unforgiving: 1. Treat every firearm as if loaded, 2. Do not point the muzzle at anything you do not intend to shoot or destroy, 3. Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until on target and ready to shoot, 4. Know your target and target environment (background) . "Listen more than you speak, and you will hear more stupid things than you say."

Sucide? Having investagated several of these so called AD. deaths. I wonder often if they were not planned. But with out a note or statement they are most of the timed ruled accidental. On duty death pays out sucide does not. Most LEO long guns are carried with out a round in the chamber untill deployed.?? Why would one grab it my the barrel ect. Lots of things to investagate in one of these shooting.
