Just have to gloat a little!! I actually got a non-Res Wyoming bull elk tag for zone 96. The results are at the website.

I just got back from Carnival in Brazil and lost my voice almost totally...I can't even call my buddy going too (drew as a party) to tell him.

Any zone 96 stories would be appreciated.

Cheers!!

I must confess that I don't know if it's limited entry. Basically a good friend of mine has a family friend that ranches in the Pinedale area and he told us to apply for either zone 95 or zone 96. The odds were about 4x greater to draw in zone 96 so that was our first choice and we got it. We may be in wilderness areas as well as other types of land. I'm basically leaving myself in his hands as he's lived there all his life and is supposed to know the area well. After all $500 for the permit is pretty cheap compared to many elk hunts we see advertised.

Carnival? It was something else. I didn't do Rio where it's basically a stadium and you watch floats. I went to Salvador in Bahia as I have several friends there. It's very interactive and truly something to see. I went four different times and saw the sun coming up in the east at the end of every single day. The area really changes during Carnival as many of the locals leave town, etc., and I mention that because the town is fun at other times of the year as well. You'll see more nudity in Rio apparently but Salvador is more "interactive" and I think you end up meeting more people which is very fun.

I stayed with friends and our place was more of a "family" setting. It was also north of town so it was a bit of a ride to get down to the parade area. If I had it to do over again I'd probably foot the bill and get a hotel near the parade area and use it as home base. I could have had a lot more fun that way...if you know what I mean.

Brazil's great. I wouldn't mind retiring there someday...cheap living. I'd have to learn more about hunting in Argentina though. Perhaps a forum search is in order???
