What an awesome hunt. The weather was rainy and rut was just starting. I got really blessed on this one. These speedy critters are really tough to get into bow range. The rain made hunting in a blind over water practically impossible.

Hey good for you! Nice pronghorn. Is he your first? Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns

So did you hunt in a blind over water or spot and stalk? Can you give us more details on the hunt? Shot distance, how far did he run after the shot? At any rate it is a great looking antelope and to take it with archery equipment is a real accomplishment. Congrats!

I say practically impossible because a couple hunters in my group managed to connect hunting waterholes. After two days in the blind and seeing just three antelope. It was time to get out, spot and stalk. They were just starting to pay attention to the decoy and grouping up. The rain did make for quiet stalks and antelope were bedding down in it. The shot was 47yards. Getting closer was not going to happen. I felt real good about taking the shot. I hit him right behind the shoulder and the arrow exited the opposite hip. It was a complete pass thru. Never did find the arrow. He went 100yds (a distance they can cover in seconds) and dropped stone dead. This is my first antelope. I saw hundreds. I do want another now.

That is quite an accomplishment! My one and only antelope was taken at 80 yards with a rifle, spot and stalk, and that was challenging enough. 47 yards is a long way with a bow and it sounds like you made an excellent shot. Thanks for providing the additional details.

Zone 23. The outfitter is retiring after this season. This was a fundraiser hunt for a friend recovering from prostate cancer.

Nice goat, I took one with a handgun a long time ago, and quite a few with a rifle. I certainly appreciate the one shot kill, good job!

Hey good for you! Great accomplishment with a bow, and thanks for calling it an antelope and not a "goat" or "speed goat"! The utards on other forums refer to them as that, and I find it very disrespectful to such a resiliant and tuff animal a "goat"!, and they taste good to!

Thanks, I wish I'd remembered you were in that state when I was over there. I was there 6 days. Like Africa, one trip to Wyoming will not be enough! A little clearer picture of the antelopes horns.
