...in Nov 1637, before a nation had been founded on these shores, when a musket was a tool used to obtain food and protect the home, 76 persons in the Massachusetts Bay Colony were deprived by the General Court of "all such guns, pistols, swords, powder, shot, and match as they shall bee owners of, or have in their custody" to censure them for differing in belief from the ELECTED leaders of their Puritan community about the way in which one could attain everlasting salvation. A little history lesson. If you give this a bit of thought, you see the reason for the Bill of Rights, AND, that they are not independent of each other. Do not take any restrictions of your rights lightly. Getting off my soapbox now.

I agree with the thought, but shouldn't this be in the political forum? Just sayin' Larry "Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson

No! It should be right here.... front and center. That is why we are losing our freedoms on a daily basis. Too many are putting things like this on the back burner. "The right to bear arms" insures your right to freedom, free speech, religion, your choice of doctors, etc. ....etc. ....etc.... -----------------------------------one trillion seconds = 31,709 years-------------------

And another little history lesson - more than one of the Puritans' wars with the Indians ended with the complete extermination of the Indians. When it came to it, the Puritans put saving their scalps first...

I agree, it stays here. It is talking about the tools used to collect food in America, i.e., hunting in America. If our guns are gone, our hunting is gone. Curtiss, thanks for the brief yet incredibly powerful history lesson.

now we're getting the idea, keep speaking out! Let us speak courteously, deal fairly, and keep ourselves armed and ready Theodore Roosevelt

Getting hunters/gun owners on the same page, and realizing that anti-hunters/anti-gun owners already are on the same page and are working together, is the hard part. Can hunters/gun owners set aside their differences long enough to join forces and fight a common enemy? Even the rocks don't last forever.

While we are an independent bunch (that's a big difference between us and them) we ARE capable of getting it together when we need to. We've done it before. And by and large we do it for elections without anyone leading our whole bunch. We do it individually. Remember how we pulled down Gore's pants and spanked him good? But this time will take co-ordination, and yes, money. Lots of it. And respected leadership.
