Well I'm sorry it made you feel that way. Would you mind elaborating a little bit?

Well you're certainly entitled to your opinion...but there's really no need for the harsh/gross adjectives.

I will admit that the trailer may be a little overly dramatic, but if you don't understand that our hunting and private property rights are under attack right now....then you've been living under a rock. If you'd like to continue doing so, be my guest.

I have been voting for 20 years to ensure our guns rights, am a life member and continuing contributor to multiple hunting groups and the NRA.

Hell I am even a member of both Boone and Crocket and the Exotic Wildlife Foundation for conflicting views.m

How we conduct our business is paramount. Would the Exotic Wildlife Association or Boone and Crocket club use such a childish promotion?

Just another shining example of how hunters/gun owners support each other. Yes Sir, I can see hunters standing together and effectively fighting and defeating those that are trying their damnedest to take hunting and gun ownership away from us.

You and I are obviously not interpreting the video or the concept behind it the same way.

I'm glad you are already involved in the NRA, B&C, and EWA. I am a proud life member of the NRA, and also an active member in the EWA as well.

You may very well already be educated on the topics that will be covered by the show....but I think this is going to help shed light on some subject matter that many folks (casual hunters, "weekend warriors", etc...) are not well versed in. I hope you will at least watch it, and then re-visit this post with your opinion AFTER.

A slightly corny or overly-dramatic trailer does not necessarily mean the show itself will not be worth watching.

Yea, you know what I'm going to read a good book instead of watching this.

I believe this kind of thing will shorten the time before hunting is voted out in this country. I simply will not sacrifice my integrity by supporting what I don't believe in, and what will accelerate the end of hunting as I know it.

Don't feel bad though, my views are a minority position in this country.

+1

I really don't understand all the hostility. The division among the ranks of hunters never ceases to amaze me.

Never mind the lack of basic tact and manners displayed in this thread....

When they allowed hunting to become big business they polluted the sport. Too many people see it as their personal cash cow and don't care about the average guy that just wants to hunt deer and fill the freezer. Now it is about "How big a buck can I "grow" to sell someone" or "How much can I make off selling hunts on the place I leased" or "How can I make the game dept give more tags to people I can sell hunts too".

When in doubt, follow the $$$. And in deer hunting the $$$ now leads to outfitters and others that only see hunting as a way to increase the bottom line.

Not true. You are correct that hunting has become a big business....(actually a HUGE business). And yes, TROPHY hunting can be very expensive. However, there are still plenty of cheap hunting opportunities out there for people who aren't interested in trophy animals.

Also, a great deal of people (perhaps even the majority) who are focused on managing their property, habitat, and animals are doing it for their own personal enjoyment....not for financial gain. They are just normal folks that love hunting and managing wildlife. I deal with these folks every day.

And one more thing, it frustrates me when I hear about all these people who are supposedly making millions in the hunting business. Trust me, that does not happen. I live in Texas, where hunting is a huge business, and I have also worked in the industry.....and I don't know ANYBODY who has made substantial amounts of profit from hunting. Some of them make a decent living, but none of them are getting rich. It is usually just a way to help pay property taxes and offset the tremendous cost of running their ranches. Just because hunting has become more expensive does not mean the landowners or outfitters are making gobs of money.

There are a bunch of us getting sick of the "commercialization" of hunting.......

It ( for me at least ) has nothing to do with the methods.........just the general commercialization of something held so dear.

DING, DING, DING, we have a winner!!! The commercialization of hunting will eventually be its downfall. When it becomes about $$$ and trophy size, the public will turn against it. Make no mistake about it, the public can and has, in a few cases, voted hunting out of existence. Such things do not bode well for the average hunter.

No, they are not making "Gobs" of money, but they are making enough to stay in business and in many cases expand.

Wade I have been hunting just a little while myself and for the past few years part of my annual income has been derived from commercial hunting operations here in Texas.

There is no such thing as a cheap hunt in Texas anymore, and were it not for various friendships and the person I work for I would not have been able to do anything more than a one or two day doe hunt for several years now.

I have several acquaintances, that are in the same boat I am in, and others that have not been able to even go on a doe hunt due to financial considerations, for several years now.

Me and J, ain't what could be termed "Buddies", but his statement rings true for many of us that started hunting in the 50's-60's and early to mid 70's.

follow the money. all the listed sponsors have a highly vested interest in continuing whitetail hunting. it isn't about saving deer hunting( or any other hunting for that matter). its about turning a profit. that's fine and i have no problem with turning a profit but the trailer is disingenuous.

One more time for Wade.,.... Is this a promotion for sincere education that whitetail properties is donating or is it a business strategy to make profit for a company by cammercializing hunting?? No harm no foul either way but lets call it what it is. Once again, I hope it's for general education with no catches.. Sincerly..

For the record,.. I have hunted behind high fences and will probably do so again in the future guilt free. Just to get that out of the way, and I have no problem with outdoor shows in general. What I have a problem with is the continuous stream of folks who blow smoke on national TV and dumb down "the average guy" so they can make a buck by taking a buck.

Todd

Todd,

I have no way to know for sure, since I am not an integral part of the WP production team....but from what I do know about our company, I would say the answer is probably both. We are a real estate company that exclusively sells hunting, ranch, and farm property...and we take great pride in what we do (both on a business level and an informational level where we try to educate and interact with other hunters).

I think there will be some valuable information on the show for all sportsmen, whether they are landowners or not. I'm sure there will also be advertisements for our company.....but that does not make the information any less valuable or any less truthful.

Please enlighten us on how exactly TR's conservation model is being "eroded" here...

It isn't. Plain and simple. The world and times that TR lived in are vastly different than todays hunting.

Our country has changed, people have changed.

TR is my personal hero, but TR, because of his position in life, and his attitudes, was very privileged in many areas.
