It seems like American Big Game Hunting is a forum to piss and moan on how people hunt.Outfitters pimping hunts(Thought they had their own forum).Political BS that also has its own forum.
Stupid me I thought this forum was a place where guys could post pics of their personal hunts or maybe of their friends, spouses or kids.Anyone who actually does that is picked apart and accused of(Photoshopping)high fence hunting or some other dastardly deed.
Thanks to the guys who actually post pics and stories of your hunts. Big Grin

OB,
Most of my hill country hog hunts are posted in the "hogs" forum rather than the ABG forum.

However in light of your OP, in regards to hunting, wives family and friends, here is one from Valentines day.

Before I proceed with the hunt story, let me say I've the best wife ever. My darlin' bride and I have been married going on 35 years. I go hunting whenever I want. When I leave town, I leave her with a pile of cash, a couple high balance credit cards. I also have a taxi service on retainer that picks her up from her boyfriends place within thirty minutes of her call. She never complains about how much I hunt. LOL.

I titled it Breakin' Hearts,

And severing vertebrae

starting at 3,200 fps.

two of three that received a valentines day greeting from yours truly.

Oh yeah, The Sendero is chambered in 338 RUM. 200 Gr. Ballistic Silvertips are perfect for pokin' porkers. Correct bullet placement and they don't go far. Trackin' these dudes through the briar and brambles at night is a young mans game.

Best

GWB

Maybe it is because American Big Game hunting is facing a lot of difficult times ahead. I have been hunting for a little and have witnessed the changes in the attitudes and approaches to hunting.

Frankly, I don't believe all of those changes are good. As hunting in America, along with private gun ownership are being more critically viewed on a daily basis, as a group, hunters need to stay informed about changes in policy/laws/Public opinion, that can or will effect them and their ability to continue hunting. Theses same type discussions take place on the African hunting forum. Turning our heads and pretending changes that negatively effect hunters are not taking place, or ignoring such changes simply is not realistic.

Not discussing such issues does not mean they go away or don't exist, discussing them may not change anything, but at least we will all know what happened, when it happened and why it happened. No one is forced to take part in these discussions. All a person has to do is move along to another discussion more to their liking.

You don't like whining threads so you start a thread discussing whining threads instead of not reading them?

You don't work for the DMV do you?

Oh, the hunting still goes on. I think a lot of fellas hesitate to post because they just don't want to put up with the crap that results from nearly every post. Doesn't matter what's put up, someone will bitch about it. You shot something over water, you shot something over bait, your rifle was in a caliber too small or too large, you shot too far, you got too close, your hat looks funny, blah, blah, blah. I hunted deer, elk, antelope, and hogs last year and don't think I posted anything about it here. Who needs the drama?

This is kind of why I posted this thread.Too bad !!!If some one has a story to tell I love to read them.Even if its embelished.Hunters and fishermen sometimes do that.Thats how hunting camps used to be.My Gramps always said if you have nothing good to say about someones story"keep your piehole shut".OB

Times have changed/hunters have changed, and personally I do not believe for the better. Classifying hunting as a "Sport" is one thing. When people started viewing hunting as a "Competetive" sport, is when I feel things started sliding sideways. People stopped hunting deer for meat and the pleasure of sharing time in the woods with family and friends. Things went from any deer killed was a quality animal, to only animals that measured out to a certain number of points on a scoring system were quality animals.

We went from a time when people would carry on long conversations about the pleasure they had spending time with family/friends during hunting trips, to the point where all folks want to discuss is B&C/P&Y numbers of the latest buck they killed, how much money they spent getting that animal and the list goes on.

Desert Ram hit the nail squarely on the head, and it is that way on every forum on the internet. Things went from sharing similar experiences gained while on hunting trips, to seeing who could claim the biggest buck or most $$$$ spent on a rifle/scope rig.

Hunters that just want to hunt and if possible kill something, have in my opinion became a minority within the ranks of the hunting public. That is why lots of folks won't share their experiences on forums.

Even the rocks don't last forever.
