How many deer are you allowed to harvest in a season? Here in ND we can take one deer per license. One gun, one bow, one muzzleloader, etc. If licenses go unsold, then they are offered up as a second license.

Also, what is your impression of the swede as a deer gun? I bought a Ruger 77 in 260 rem and it has poleaxed every deer I have shot with it.

I hunt on a 2700ac lease and we have 35 DMP doe tags. With tags you can shoot 2 does and one buck per day. When or if the doe tags are gone you can shoot one buck per day. It actually is kind of hard to shoot 35 does. At this point, half way thru gun season we only have shot 7 does. The weather has been warm and raining which has kept the deer movement down. On the 6.5x55 I love it!!! The gun in the pics is a winchester feather weight, my wife has a Ruger and I have semi-custom on order. It will have a remington action, 24" barrel on a remingtion lamenated mountain rifl stock. The load I'm useing is a bit mild, 43.5gr of IMR 4350 with the 125gr Nosler Partition, its not impressive it just works!!! Of the 9 deer I have shot, 3 fail
in their tracks, 1 went 150yds, 4 went 25 to 100 yrs. The other 1 I messed up and gut shot at 75yrs. I lost her trail after some dogs pushed her(the lease next to use runs dogs) and after tracking for 3 hours in a pine thichet. My shots have been from 20yrds to 220yrds and the only bullets I found where in the 8 point and that was a 200# deer. Yea I love the 6.5x55, I have a light weight rifle, with only 12# of recoil and it just plain works. Thats after owning 9 other rifles from a 30-30 to 340weatherby. Mark

Mark....
You can shoot how many deer?
You lucky devil.
Here in the Peoples Republic of Washington
you can shoot one deer 3pts. ( on 1 side min. 6pts. for you southern brothers) per year if you are lucky/damned good.
Almost forget how to gut one between lucky years. Where I live it's mostly mule deer, but the whitetails are spreading out. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

It may sicken you guys. I hunted with a friend on a lease in Bullock County Alabama. We had to shoot ELEVEN does and three bucks on one weekend or pay FINES on the deer that remained unharvested. I took three does and one buck, but as a guest hunter I wasn't responsible to pay fines. Those boys however, paid enough in penalties to buy a damn fine rifle. The south does have some cool points.................

Dan is right, you are a lucky, lucky man.

Ummm, need any help?

What ranges are most of the shots taken? From the pictures, it looks like the cover ranges from semi-open to pretty thick.

Shots range from 20yrds to 220yrs. In some of the areas you can shoot 400yrds and in some you're doing good to see 30yrds.
Do I need help? I think for now I'll try to shoot my wayout. Mark
