Those deer look to be in darn good shape. I bet they make some fine eating. "Good job" to those two hunters.

I think that was my brother Tyler's 4th buck he has shot in the last 5 years, all with a 243 Winchester.

It was the first one I was with him on. My dad always took Tyler to Tyler's Uncles ranch. We lost our dad July of 2015 so Tyler came with me this year.

Your family is having a great year! My wife grew up in E. Helena and many of her friends still hunt around the state. I'd love to hunt MT one of these days! Antelope is on my list, and I'd LOVE to hunt with my daughter when she's ready!

Congratulations on a great start to your hunting year!

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

The swan was fantastic. I cut thin strips and fried the breasts. The legs I cooked on the oven and cut the meat off the bones. If I draw a tag I'll try to pick out a young one like this one was.

Finally saw some elk.

This year I found a couple new hunting spots and hopefully they are as good as this year was.

On Friday I missed a very large Mule deer buck in this field and when my sons and I went back on Saturday these elk were there 165 yards out so things got exciting fast.

My youngest took the first shot and dropped his right away. My oldest shot his spike 2 seconds later which dropped in its tracks and I ran up the hill about 20 feet as the elk were moving to our right and stopped to a call which is when I shot mine. The boys had to give there elk a finisher as they both spine shot thier elk.

The elk were down at 7:25am and the last load made it in the truck at 6PM.

Austins elk, 300 Win Mag WBY Vanguard, 200 Sierra BT.

Wow! That's a lot of meat (and work)! Good for your family. It reminds of my kids' elk hunt last year, when they both got nice cows and we had two elk to get out. Good times. Smiler
