I have a chance to go to Hawaii this January with a couple friends and was wondering if anybody has hunted any of the islands for hog or sheep of any kind. I was looking at the Parker Ranch web site but, they dont give any prices. The Parker Ranch is the largest cattle ranch in the U.S. and has alot of game animals on it's 175,000 acres. Any info would be appreciated.

Look for some of Mike Smith's or Matt Normans posts on Hawaii hunting. They just hunted Hawaii a short while ago.

I lived on the Big Island for a number of years, and my in-laws still do. Parker ranch is very nice to hunt, however as the old saying goes if you have to ask you cant afford it. The Bird hunting is great, but it will cause you. There is another man who will take you to Mona Loa and it will not cause you quite as much. Ill make a call Sunday and get his name.

Fordfreak,

Mike Smith and I have gone twice to the "Forbidden Island" of Niihau, arranged through Geoff Hashimoto. We have done a rather unique three-day cull shoot that I can sum up like this: bring at least 200 rounds of ammo. They also do one day hunts. It is quite an experience. PM me and I will get you the contact information.

Matt,

Glad to see you on, I have not seen you post in a while. I am going to try and give you a call on Monday before I fly out in the afternoon, I have something to talk with you about.

I hope all is well.

How can that be? The King Ranch in Texas (a cattle ranch) has around 900,000 acres. There are several other ranches in Texas with more than 175,000 acres.

I think the Parker is the largest ranch and the King is the largest holding.

Meaning that not all of the King ranch is connected to the rest of it.

So the Parker is the largest at 175,000 continuous acres.

I have heard before many times that both are the largest ranch in the US.

Funny thing is "everything is bigger in Texas" excepting

Alaska, greater than twice the size of Texas.

California has more coastline.

Florida has more cattle.

California has more farms.

And Wyoming has the biggest mine in the world.

And Nebraska has the biggest county in the country.

Of course North Slope Borough in Alaska would be the biggest if it was called a county.

You can't tell a Texan that something is bigger than it is in Texas.
