Any modern users care to comment on these long RN bullets? Woodleigh offers them for both the .333 and the .338, and I imagine Hawk does as well. With an SD of .375, one might imagine them to be the last word in penetrating SN bullets. John Taylor rated quite highly the original .333 with 300 gn bullets. However, I was reading recently the book Solo Safari from Safari Press, and the author is adamant that such long bullets are prone to being deflected by bone, etc., resulting in their tumbling in tissue. Also, I recall Ray Atkinson here cautioning against bullets too long, but I can't find the post. So is anyone here actively using these on game? Karl

Ray has recommended the 300 gr Woodleigh in 338 Win Mag and has great success with them. I own some but haven't loaded them yet. Steve

I can't imagine a bullet with an SD of .385(for .333) and .375(for .338) deflecting off bone when properly stabalized by a proper rifling twist.

I used the old Barnes Original 300gr bullet in my .338 magnum for Bison last fall. Did a great job on a 1200lb "eating" bull.
