Stupid question: my in-laws live in CA, and not me, can they apply for a BH tag, and if drawn, sell or donate to me? Thanks! Orvar

Yes to the first part, and no to the second part. ![]() Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

No, they can't give you their tag, if they did and you took a BH you'd all be in deep trouble with the state and the Feds would get you on a Lacey Act violation as well. But you as a nonresident can apply for the drawing by buying the $155 NR license and the $8 drawing application. Odds of drawing a tag are very low but that's true for sheep tags pretty much everywhere. If you got a spare $100,000+ or so you can bid for a tag in one of the auctions.
