After a week or more of looking I mailed the deposit for the elk hunt. Really nervous in a way but very excited at the same time. Do my hunting on our place in East Texas. I have hunted on leases in South Texas. My only out of state big game hunt was Antelope in 1985. I went to Wheatland, WY. I lived in Oklahoma at the time and my vet grew up in Wyoming. He set it up with his parents and little brother acted as my guide. Had a devil of a good time. Cost was getting there and my tags. I remember my transmission went bad three days before I was to leave,(two year old pickup) I bought a new pickup to make the trip. I was 27 and single at the time. The shoulder mount is in the living room of our home. Keep yer powder dry and yer knife sharp. | ||

At least you got to go that year. Late wife and grandson didn't want me to go for elk one year. I'd just put new tires on the trailer. Next day all seven were cut! Borrowed $500 for new one's all around. Then headed out a day or so later. Damned if the trans didn't take a shit about 6 miles south of town. Didn't get to go that year. Didn't realize it was them that cut the tires or I'd of called the cops on 'em. Even if it was the wife! Good luck on your hunt. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!"
