I am thinking about hunting this unit for a late October early November elk hunt. I would like to hear comments from you as to the quality of animals to expect out of this unit.

OK, I can cope with there being no unit 77 hunters on the board, how about unit 75? Thanks.

I live in 75 and hunt 77. Both can be good.

What type of weapon do you hunt with?

Quality can be excellent, but.... they are not behind every tree.

If I was going to come hunt the area....I would do as much scouting with a map as possible.... look for the areas off the roads and the escape routes..... and I would hunt those.

After I had researched the area with maps, I would come to the areas you wanted to hunt a week before season started and start looking for animals..... then on opening day, you would hopefully have a few herds found that you could hunt......

Have you been here before?

robncolorado, thanks and great to hear from a "local". I have been a "tourist" in the area but not a hunter. This will be a fully guided hunt by one of your local operators who is very familiar with the country. I am a rifle hunter and this hunt would be during the third rifle season I believe the first week of Nov.
