I didn't draw an antelope tag in Wyoming so, like many others, now I'm looking for an alternative hunt for this year. I just want to go somewhere, have a good time, see the country and, hopefully, bring home some meat.

Physical issues rule out long hikes, rough country and "D.I.Y." hunts.

Mostly interested in antelope or cow elk, preferably with accommodations provided. I'm not really interested in varmints or hogs and since I shoot a lot of white tail deer doing ag damage control I really can't wrap my head around paying for a deer hunt.

Not looking for any sort of high fence 'hunt.'

Budget is $4,000, give or take.

Any suggestions?

I remember that you've recently been turned off of your normal cow elk outfitter here in NM, but surely there are others available. I don't have any first-hand experience with outfitters - the few times I've bought cow elk permits I got them directly from the landowner. Surely some of the booking agents or outfitters here can put in touch with someone. Maybe Jim Welles or Aaron Neilson or Mark Young.

If those fail, I know a local guy who outfits in Unit 13 for bulls. I could ask him if knows anyone there who sells cow hunts. I had a fun hunt there for a cow a couple years ago. You'd be pretty close to me even, so I could try to get you pointed in the right direction.

Hit the find button at the top of the page.

Type in "cow"

Hit enter. You will have to weed thru a few threads but there are a couple related threads with lots of options for you.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Cow elk in Utah.

My friend has a great ranch here and has some easy nice cow elk hunts. Inexpensive, great country, and fun. I am not a booking agent, just giving a reference!!
