Didn't Jack O'Connor say that he had "Only wrote a couple of different stories and just continued changing them around!" [Big Grin]

I think I see some paralells here...

The Great Debates:

1. CRF vs Push Feed

2. .270 vs 30 06 (or 3006 vs anything for that matter)

3. Leupold vs The European Optics

4. .270 on Elk

5. Weatherby Anything

6. Stainless/Synthetic vs Blue/Walnut

(I split the difference- I like stainless rifles and pistols but wood/blue shotguns)

Have I missed any?

I find it very interesting that the same topics are debated across generations. I looked at an old catalouge of Reminton Ammo from 1951 last week and all the 270 and 30-06 data was circled, drop, energy and veloctity figures werte underlined and differences subtracted. I can envision two old coots in wool pants and having a toddy in a tin cup debating the relative usefullness of these calibers on big game! The only thing thats changed is distance and a lot of questionable calibers thrown into the mix.
