My max preference points and I got really lucky and drew a WY unit 124 type 1 tag. Would anyone care to offer some advice on that hunt? I know its a huge unit of very open country and while a person won’t find a B&C sized trophy there, I understand there’s a good chance for a decent bull on public land. Any advice by email (khamann(at)boaring.com), PM or on this forum would be appreciated. Thanks, Kyler

With the north/northwestern 1/2 of the unit being checkerboarded and hard to access legally, that leaves the rest of the unit that is almost all BLM land. However, that is a tremendous amount of land and with only 40 tags issued for the entire unit there should be room for everybody to kill a bull.

Thanks TG. I've got some good maps and have been studying. I got extra lucky and drew a Tipton HMA slot so I'll get to access that ranch too. Anybody else with tips or advice I'd appreciate it.

Are you going out for the September bow season during the rut or just during the six week rifle season in Oct and Nov? If you bow hunt and have the cash/time to buy an archery permit and make two trips for the September hunt and then fall back on the rifle hunt if you don't tag out, that would be the way to go to take full advantage of drawing that tag.

Good advice TG. Thanks. I know that's possible, but the archery season there is our rifle deer season here so I can't take that much time off. I'm planning to go for the rifle season and give it my all then.
