Turkey season opened here in VA on Sat. Went out with a couple of buddies and got this bird less than 30 minutes after the season started.



It has been years since I took a spring gobbler. This one weighed a whisker under 20 lbs, had 1 1/4 inch spurs and an 11 inch beard. To say I am happy with him is an understatement.

Heard two different getting shot in the neighborhood this weekend.

Only three mature toms came to the bird feeder this evening.

The turkeys eat what the little birds kick out on to the ground out of my feeder mixture.
